Documentary about the influential left-wing intellectual Stuart Hall, one of the founding fathers of Cultural Studies. His work was a major influence on artist and filmmaker Isaac Julien. The film will be introduced by Eliza Steinbock, Professor of Transgender Studies, Art and Cultural Activism at Maastricht University.

The Keti Koti Dialogue Table is a gathering during which is reflected on the contemporary consequences of the Dutch slavery past over a ritual meal. The dialogue table brings people with diverse backgrounds together and in conversation: acquaintances and strangers, people of different generations and cultures from different communities.

Our guest is a human rights defender who works on capacity building of human rights organisations in their country, promotion of civic and political rights, and protection of civic space. In doing so, they face a lot of obstacles in their work, from discriminatory laws and surveillance. During the lecture, our guest discusses the history of their country and tells how democracy came under pressure. They also talk about what their work as a human rights defender is like.
